This demo was made for Cafe Dot Birthday Jam 2024 with the theme "Celebration", and was made during the first two weeks of August.
As a solo dev, I wanted to keep it simple, and decided to stay with familiar ground: beat'em ups!
This time, I made a more traditional beat'em up movement system. I wanted to make it a bit survivors like with the glory system, but chasing a high score rather than trying to beat the clock.
As end of the development, my high score was 13,031; bet you can't beat it!

This was a fun project, I might want to expand it in the future with new features. Here's some ideas:

-More enemy types & boons
-Meta progression
-Actual victory condition, bossfight - make it more Survivors like!
-More combat options, more moves, special moves, supers, etc.
-More playable characters
-A bit more effort into animations and visuals.

Thank you for trying out my game!

Simple, and fun enough to where I went overboard. I went for 10m glory and it went in to notation haha. Took about 2 hours.
Maybe you could add a status window to the pause screen so that you can see how many upgrades you've unlocked and the value of each stat?
The only criticism I have is boots need to be either capped or the growth of speed needs to be lower. After about 6-7 upgrades I felt like I was about to lose control of the character because it was too fast.

Whoa, If this doesn't count as winning the game, I don't know what does. Since the skeletons don't scale infinitely, I knew eventually somebody would out-scale them. I already nerfed boots once, guess they're still too strong - If I make more patches to the game, I'll make every boots upgrade weaker than the previous one.

Awesome game! But I don't understand why "The best sword" has the same results as "The bestest sword"

Base sword deals 4 damage, and base skeleton has 16hp. Each sword upgrade adds 2 damage.
4 damage 4 shots
6 damage 3 shots
8 damage 2 shots
10 damage isn't enough to one shot, you need 3 extra ranks before one shotting. You might want to consider other upgrades rather than trying to one shot with sword... on the other hand, the skeletons get more hp as they gain ranks too!

I get the idea, but it still feels weird to buy 2 upgrades and have absolutely nothing change. Since you can't see the skeletons' hp or how much damage you are doing, it just feels like you wasted two upgrades. I don't know if there are any other cases in the game like this one.

In any case, I love this game so much, especially the art!

sick

can you make the map bigger, it is too hard to try and escape the skeletons when you can't take them in one hit and some get to your back and kill you

Day 1 Patch, nerfed boots upgrade, and skeletons become a bit faster per level. Stacking a ton of boots made kiting too easy.
